The Industrial Economy and Society is characterized by – - growth based on increased production and sales volume - expansion into underdeveloped regions and economies - rapid global population growth and - destruction of ecosystems to acquire energy & materials   and is reaching the end of its era as we approach – - the limits of a finite Earth - the last ‘under-developed’ countries & economies - the end of cheap labour and new markets - the economic chaos of ‘globalization’ and the failure of markets - companies & economies persist with ‘growth’ economics (more is better) While many are in denial and some see the solution in returning to a pre-industrial low-tech society EnGen Institute sees technological and social evolution to the post-industrial cellular society as the way forward. However, just as niche industries are still hunter gatherer based and an agricultural economy can still exists within industrialized society, the industrial society will linger on as a niche within the cellular society and ‘evolution’ economics (smarter is better) that is as yet still in its early stages.
